On Voice AI Politeness Part II - Voicebot.ai
So, let us get back to our main two core questions: How polite should a human being be with a voicebot, and how polite should a voicebot be with a human being? In my opinion, the answer to the first question is straightforward. The human being should be able to behave in any way that they wish to behave, with their only concern being to have the voicebot do what they want it to do and do it as quickly or as slowly as they want it to do it. If the human wishes to use "Please" and "Thank you" and other politeness markers, then the voicebot should accommodate such markers. If not, then the voicebot should accommodate their absence.
The 5 Feats of the Amazon Echo - Voicebot.ai
It responded almost instantly -- a capability that to this day, 5 years and change on, I find miraculous. Before the Amazon Echo, my prior magical Voice First moment of bliss was the launch of Siri on October 4th, 2011, with the release of the 4S. Up to that point, the only way to use speech on your smartphone was through an app. The Siri app was such an app, and I had found it impressive in what it could do. But now, with Apple pulling the app (actually a small apportion of the app) into the iPhone -- a mainstream product that was going places -- well now, speech had finally arrived! Yes, speech had finally arrived, and it had arrived and was being welcomed in the house of the iPhone, where it was given a spacious room to lodge in, alongside the other rooms – the camera, the phone, the texting, etc.
Wyze's Outdoor Cam is the best outdoor security camera for the money
Here are the Wyze Outdoor Cam's specs: The Wyze Outdoor Starter Bundle includes one Outdoor Cam and one base station required for use. Running on two 2,600 mAh integrated rechargeable batteries, Wyze's Outdoor Cam is completely wire-free and claims a battery life of three to six months for normal use (about 10-20 events per day). A base station is required to use the camera, but it's included in the Wyze Outdoor Cam Starter Bundle, so there are no additional products to buy. Up to four total cameras can be added to the base station, allowing you to outfit the exterior of your home with multiple cameras for less than the cost of one Arlo Pro 4, our No. 1 pick for outdoor security cameras. Wyze's outdoor camera delivers 1080p video and night vision that are easy on the eyes, as well as two-way talk functionality that's clear and easy to understand.

The best plug-in smart outlet
This post was done in partnership with Wirecutter. When readers choose to buy Wirecutter's independently chosen editorial picks, Wirecutter and Engadget may earn affiliate commission. After spending more than two years testing 41 smart outlets, we're confident that the Wemo Mini is the best smart outlet plug-in adapter for people who want to add remote control and automation to their existing lamps, fans, or other electrical devices. It's the most reliable Wi-Fi smart plug we tested, it's simple to use, and it works with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The Wemo Mini is the only model that has been rock-solid reliable over long-term use, offers a compact design that won't block both outlets on a wall plate, and supports all the major voice-control platforms. Like most of the smart plug-in switches we tested, the Wemo Mini is easy to set up: Just plug it into an outlet, download an app to your phone, set up the wireless connection, and then control lamps, small appliances, and even higher-draw devices like fans and air conditioners. The Wemo family also includes light switches and dimmers, so it's easy to expand your system. The Lutron Caséta Smart Lighting Lamp Dimmer costs quite a bit more than the Wemo Mini, but it has two outlets, allowing you to control two lamps or strings of lights at once (though not independently).
